Foundations | Level 1 Training

Our Foundations Training is both a stand-alone event and the first Level of our YogaKids Teacher Certification 3-Level Track.

Whether your aim is to become a kids yoga teacher — or to get new tools for integrating yoga into a child-friendly environment (classroom, home, office) — our Level 1 Foundations Training is the place to begin.

This event, held in areas around the world, introduces attendees to the YogaKids’ one-of-a-kind way of teaching yoga to children.

The YogaKids Program, influenced by theorists such as Maria Montessori and Howard Gardner, celebrates the whole child. Our broad yoga-for-children program will give you the tools to teach yoga to all ages and abilities.

Founded by yoga-pioneer/ educator/author Marsha Wenig, YogaKids has been helping children — along with adults — discover the pleasures and benefits of yoga for over 25 years.

Product Description

They will be introduced to all 14 of the YogaKids Elements, the building blocks of this amazing program. These Elements (Math Medley, Laughing Language, Visual Vignettes… to name just a few) incorporate all the different ways children learn. They combine yoga with reading, writing, science, art, music, games, ecology, philosophy and much more — and thus, create a matrix for learning that’s accessible to all children.

Timing: Level 1 Training is open to all. The prerequisite for Level 2 is Level 1. Trainees wishing to continue on to Level 2 must sign-up within one year of completing Level 1.

  1. :

The YogaKids foundations training was exactly what I needed to expand my knowledge of teaching yoga to children. I left the weekend overflowing with inspiration and new ideas. I can’t wait to use all these new skills in my kids yoga classes!!!
    Thank you YogaKids!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. :

I really enjoyed my time & learning at the foundations class so much with Judy Brennan that I went on to become a CYKT. THANK YOU so much!

  3. :

I had the pleasure of attending the Yk Foundations with my teacher/mentor, Kim Vulinovic. I was re-introduced to yoga, the Yoga Kids way. As a trained adult teacher of yoga, I had to shift my perceptions about what I already know and begin with an open mind – a new mind – to help teach kids yoga. This was a bit of a struggle. However, the research and work that Marsha W. pulled together proves a mindful integration of combining science, play and art together in a balanced, yogic way. I loved the way that we were exposed to Marsha’s teachings – we read, educated ourseves collectively and practiced the poses the yoga kids’ way. Kim weaved and threaded teaching Marsha’s way by incorporating the 14 special elements. After we students gained the exposure to the YK practice(s), we were given small practicums to get our feet wet as new YK teachers. As the days of the training progressed, we were given more responsibilities of the teacher. This was a very creative, balanced and special process that reminded me of building a home from the basement up. This was truely a foundational experience. Very similar to a tree, I felt my roots begin to sink into the earth and become more stable daily. As a public educator to students with special needs, I see the benefits of the Yoga Kids’ daily practice to aid students in cultivating a calm and focused presence. I am inspired by the foundation training because I’ve experienced the benefits of yoga. As well, the science behind Marsha’s work can aid to encourage the general population to try it and be open to yoga. Specifically, in this period of time that we live in where everyone, but mostly minds who are open to begin new habits will benefit from yoga. Good habits for life can begin when we are young and the design of Yoga Kids is a wonderful way to plant the seeds of a healthy mind and body.

  4. :

Amazing time spent with an amazing group of people learning about kids and yoga. I made great connections to people who can help me as I learn better how to share yoga with the students who pass through my classroom. I loved how much research-based studies where used to justify use of yoga in my classroom daily. It has become easy to sprinkle yoga throughout my daily classroom activities. My students love it too!

  5. (verified owner):

Foundations surpassed my hopes and expectations! It was an incredible 3 days of learning, inspiration and connection! I highly recommend the training for anyone who cares about children. Parents, teachers, therapists as well as yoga teachers will benefit from this experience. Thank you, Sara and YogaKids!

  6. (verified owner):

YogaKids Foundations was career changing for me, I knew I wanted to teach Kids Yoga, but I had no idea how much fun it would be to teach! YogaKids Foundations gave me the opportunity to learn from a master YogaKids teacher, to work alongside other aspiring YogaKids teachers and connect with like-minded people. I loved every minute and decided to move onto the next levels of YogaKids training and I’m now on my way to becoming a CYKT!

    Thank You YogaKids!!
